Vorwerk and Lakenvelders

These striking birds originated in Germany as a dual purpose breed, and are fantastic layers of medium-large white eggs. They are active, heat-tolerant birds that thrive in a free range environment, but can be coop-contained if necessary. Now considered to be endangered and getting increasingly harder to find, we are doing our best to keep this remarkable breeds alive. Despite Vorwerks and Lakenvelders having nearly identical feather patterns, they're actually completely independent breeds!
