These striking birds originated in Germany as a dual-purpose breed and are fantastic layers of large white eggs. They are active, heat-tolerant birds that thrive in a free range environment, but can be coop-contained if necessary. Rarely flighty or broody, Vorwerk are a great choice for any backyard flock looking to make a statement! While they share a nearly identical feather pattern with Lakenvelders (albeit with a Gold base) they're actually completely independent breeds, and often incorrectly referred to as Golden Lakenvelders.
